9.   TAILS OF ICELAND

We began our “Tails of Iceland” journey of creation with the purpose of exploring the differing and varied special relationships between the Icelandic people and their unusual horses. It is about the culture and the connection, and there have been thousands of stories in the hundreds of years since these horses were brought to this fiercely unforgiving and magnificent island. Our goal is to capture some of the tales and a lot of the history, but more importantly, to illustrate how deep this unique kinship goes.

Into the Spotlight began as an intimate look at the selection, training and making of equine theater stars and the creation of the magic that is a live equine theater production… but it grew into so much more. Featuring multiple horses, including, rescue horses, and their journeys to the live stage, this feature length documentary also shines the spotlight on horse rescue and unwanted horses in the United States and the unimaginable risk of horses whose lives take the fateful turn that places them on the road to slaughter.
Into the Spotlight is a film about hope, rehabilitation and what we can do to protect at-risk horses. This film is for every horse person, whether they own horses or simply love them; it is about partnership and second chances. It is about trust and it is about the love affair that we have shared with horses since the beginning of human civilization.

The historical trade route was formed in 1829, when Mexicans packed blankets and other woven goods on mules in New Mexico before traveling over rugged terrain to Los Angeles to trade for horses and mules. This is the first time some one is riding the entire trail since 1849. A film to inspire us all to protect and preserve our natural landscape.
